On May 5th, #GivingTuesdayNow brought millions of people together to unite and express their generosity. Organized by the global movement Giving Tuesday, this initiative was a response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19 around the world.

With social distancing measures in place and the current economic crisis generated by the pandemic, nonprofits have had to significantly change the way they serve communities and raise funds. So, naturally, they welcomed #GivingTuesdayNow with enthusiasm!

In terms of participation and awareness, the day was a success as it ignited a global conversation on generosity with more than three billion social media impressions and online activity in more than 145 countries. As for fundraising, it is still too early to know the exact impact of #GivingTuesdayNow overall.

Here, at Faircom NY, we helped many of our clients by quickly developing powerful campaigns to mobilize their audiences on May 5th, and we are thrilled by the results.

Two of the largest nonprofits we work with raised over $30k, and one even reached $50k! Smaller organizations raised approximately $5k each, which is quite astonishing in such uncertain times, when so many Americans are facing financial hardships.

We were also excited to hear that our client Human Rights Watch was named as one of the top nonprofits to donate to on #GivingTuesdayNow by Mashable. Below are samples of the campaigns we helped them and other nonprofits build.

Each campaign included a series of emails to announce #GivingTuesdayNow, explain the initiative, ask for donations, and last but not least, thank donors for their participation. We used urgent language, goals, matching gifts, and lift notes to boost donations. We also made sure to incorporate pictures, donate buttons and mid-copy graphics to make the emails more lively.

We also created ads on social media for some of our clients by using urgent language and goals, and describing their work in just a few impactful words. Ads are a great way to acquire new donors and raise awareness for your cause.

We are proud and inspired by all of our clients. No matter the challenges that come their way, our clients work tirelessly to carry out their missions with positive energy, dedication and hope.
